Hello, dear readers!
I’m thrilled to share with you the story behind my latest book, "Winter Embrace," the first in the Lonestar Blizzard series. This book is incredibly special to me, as it draws from personal experiences that left a lasting impact on my life. Living in Texas, we’re not strangers to unpredictable weather, but twice in my adulthood, we’ve been hit with blizzards or similar conditions that turned our world upside down. The first was the blizzard of December 2008, a rare event that took us all by surprise. The second, and perhaps the most memorable, was the historic winter event in February 2021. This deep freeze engulfed parts of the continental United States, remarkably impacting the entire state of Texas. During that storm, my kids were luckily at a sleepover with their aunt and never lost power. However, my house wasn’t so fortunate. The power went off in the wee hours of the morning, leaving my mother and I to try and survive the night in the freezing cold. When the first light of dawn broke, we made the decision to attempt to leave for a hotel, seeking warmth and safety. What followed was a series of adventures that felt straight out of a movie. Our car was stuck in the ice, and much like Joss and Sarah in my book, my mother and I struggled and even fell on the ice, trying to get it to move. With persistence and determination, my mother finally managed to get the car moving, a moment that I hope I’ve captured with justice in the book."Winter Embrace" is more than just a story; it’s a tribute to the strength and resilience that we all find within ourselves during times of crisis. It’s about the unbreakable bond of family, the warmth of community, and the power of faith that guides us through the toughest of storms.Stay tuned for part 2 of the hotel inspiration for the next book in the Lonestar Blizzard series. There are many more adventures to share, and I can’t wait to take you along on this journey. Thank you for joining me in this adventure. I hope "Winter Embrace" brings you as much warmth and inspiration as it brought me while writing it.
With love and gratitude, Jessica Glidden
