Texas Proud: Born & Raised Y'all! Embracing My Texan Roots in Storytelling

As a woman born and raised in the deep heart of Texas, my pride for the Lone Star State runs deep. Texas isn't just a place I call home; it's an integral part of my identity. Today, I want to share why I proudly claim my Texan roots and why I choose to write stories set in the captivating backdrop of the great Lone Star State.

When I think about being a proud Texan, the vibrant food culture immediately comes to mind. Tex-Mex is a way of life, y'all. Taco Tuesday has become a cherished tradition in my meal planner. The versatility of Tex-Mex cuisine makes planning meals a breeze, and its bold flavors bring happiness to my family's bellies. And let's not forget the iconic Texas BBQ. I have fond memories of playing outside on the swings while my dad served as the pit master, skillfully crafting delicious homemade sauces that perfectly balanced tanginess with sweetness. Food is not just sustenance in Texas; it's a celebration that brings us together, whether it's a pan of mouth-watering beef enchiladas or slow-smoked brisket.

Texans have deeply rooted traditions that are derived from our rich history.. From the legendary battles like the Alamo to the towering presence of Big Tex at the State Fair, our traditions have been passed down through generations, making our state truly unique. Each tradition, be it the spirit of Cowboys & Indians, the excitement of rodeos, or the thrill of the State Fair, serves as a reminder of our values, resilience through storms, and love for our neighbors.

Texans are known for their passion, and it extends beyond wearing "Don't mess with Texas" shirts. Our passion ignites on the turf as we cheer on our beloved Dallas Cowboys or our local high school teams scoring touchdowns. Friday Night Lights was not just a TV show but a reflection of the real-life passion we have for football as Texans.

Country music holds a special place in my heart when it comes to why I love Texas. There's something magical about driving with the windows down, soaking in the red dirt Texas music that fills the airwaves. The lyrics about friendship, love, and heartbreak speak to my storyteller's heart as a writer. Country music is a muse that fuels my creativity and connects me to the soul of Texas.

Texas isn't just a place on the map; it's a way of life. That's why I choose to set all my stories in Texas. The Lone Star State stands tall and proud among other states and places to be from. Texans have a unique sense of pride and identity; some even say we are our own little country. But let me tell you, not all of us are Wranglers-wearing, saddle-sitting beauties. Texas encompasses a diversity that spans far beyond the stereotypes.

As a woman born and raised in the heart of Texas, I am immensely proud of my Lone Star heritage. Texas courses through my veins, shaping my character, inspiring my stories, and fueling my passion as a writer. It's a privilege to share the wonders of Texas through my storytelling. So, join me on this journey as we delve into the depth and beauty of the Lone Star State, one story at a time. Texas proud, y'all!
