It felt like she had just been thrown in a oven by the witch from Hanzel and Gretel when she walked outside in mid June. The sunshine was envied by many who didn't understand that summer in Texas meant nothing but heat, even in the shade of pecan trees. Her son had football camp today. It was time for the boys to show off the skills they learned in a scrimmage. Jack had fallen in love with the game when he was only five probably due to his father's influence while he was still in the womb and beyond. The first words name had said when he laid on the beautiful little scrunched up newborn's face was there's my little football player. Jack had grown from a tiny bald headed old man face wrapped in blue into a tall slender teenager. She remembered those days of rocking the colicky baby like they had just occurred the day before and while it was wonderful to see him grow into the nature young smart man he was it was also bittersweet for his mama. So with that being said she would put her own comfort aside in order to cheer on her favorite boy.

When she arrived at the field she couldn't tell which jersey clad boy was hers initially. Until he lined up on the very far right of the field because he had taught her that right wing back was his position. The quarterback back peddled after the center hiked the ball Jack took off into open field and his teaate thew a perfect spiral his way. The pigskin landed right into number 23s arms. Jack didn't hesitate he turned to the right stuff armed two players it seemed like slow motion passing right over the touchdown line. That's my boy Jess stood up and shouted in excitement. Whoo hoo way to go son she continued clapping excitedly.

Jack looked towards the bleachers before he jogged to the huddle. Knowing her son she sat down and quieted down no need to embarrass him anymore than necessary.

It might be a sweltering hot summer day but seeing him play a game he loved so well brought joy to cool her down slightly for the moment. She glanced up to blinding sky and thanked God for giving her such a wonderful talented son.
