It's 2 a.m. and you've been tossing and turning trying to get some sleep. Finally, you sit up. You know what you need to do.

Here is what I wrote during a 15 minute sprint. (Unedited)

God and Me 2AM

Rolling over for what seemed liked the hundredth time and fluffing the pillow a little tougher than was necessary Jess caught a glance of the old school alarm clock glaring a square red number two back at her. She had to be up in a just a few hours but yet anxiety was creeping in and sucking up all the little z's that should have been floating above her head. She knew what she needed to do but flipping the light on and completing that task seemed impossible. She closed her eyes at one more attempt when midnight her cat decided he would make use of the town she was awake and bath himself while sleeping in between her feet. She loved the little booger but it wasn't time for a shower. Giving up on the idea of sleep she sat up and scuffed her feet next to the bed till they found her favorite pair of worn out purple fuzzy house shoes. She walked blindly to the kitchen and flipped the circle red button for the coffee to begin Ok God I'm up I shall obey. I know what I need to do she thought again as she waited for carafe to fill enough for a mug of the brew. After she had her cup on hand with a splash of vanilla creamer and spoonful I'd sugar she walked to the chair by the window. The curtains were shear but the moon reflected through. Glancing down at the basket full of books while taking a few sips of the java she knew there was a reason she couldn't sleep. He wanted to talk but why did it have to be two am. Oh well one of the great unknowns. She finally placed the mug down on the wooden siderable and with a sigh picked up a notebook and the Bible her father had given her for her 21st birthday. Alright Lord I have showed up like you asked now can we make the little hamster running circles on the wheels of my mind stop. She had little hope that miracle would be completed but if anyone could ease her worry and heart thumping it was Jesus her lord and savior. This time pen in hand she got serious and prayed your will God not mine. The moment she opened her eyes and began reading from proverbs underlining things that seemed to relevant to her she began to feel the heaviness she had felt before diaapate. She was alone in the chair with only the moon and midnight who had wondered if sneakily laying again on her feet but she didn't feel like she was truly alone. It felt like she was now sitting with a friend. A friend who answered even at two in the morning. One who always showed up and stood knocking on the door until she answered.
